There is something about buying in bulk.. like some things like toilet paper and baby formula... YES! I hate buying those every week at the grocery store. But as I was contemplating buying a huge jug of extra virgin olive oil I was like... What the hell am I doing? Where am I going to keep all this olive oil?!
You know what I'm saying?

I can't be w/o my olive oil... so that's one I do get. I've REALLY been trying to cut back on my bulk item shopping, though. I buy those huge assed variety packs of stuff and they sit and sit. bleh!
now I only hit sam's club (like costco, bj's and the like) 2 or three times a year... mainly during party season.
now if I could only remember to write lists before shopping so I stop buying the same shit that's already in my pantry. oh well. one step at a time, right?
I always buy: toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, and formula in bulk. Everything else - we just don't have room for it!
those stores make me nervous, in the same way that an all-you-can-eat buffet does. and really, we don't have room. i always feel like i'm living on the wild side when i buy the 12-pack of toilet paper (which, you can only get at the fancy grocery store but not at the regular one!)
The Mark Bittman guy who writes for the NY Times has an excellent recipe for turkey confit that requires a LOT of olive oil. Don't worry about keeping the oil, cook something with it!
